Whole Body Cryotherapy/Cryosauna

Cryotherapy is a treatment that uses subzero temperatures to soothe an irritated nervous system, provide pain relief and reduce inflammation. This innovative technology has replaced the need for ice baths. Cryotherapy is more effective and more comfortable for the individual, and each treatment only takes three minutes. You will experience a boost in your energy levels, be able to work out harder and recover faster with cryotherapy sessions at Iselborn Health & Wellness.

During a whole-body cryotherapy session, you will stand in a chamber, or cryosauna, wearing only gloves, socks, undies and booties for three minutes as the chamber is filled with a nitrogen vapor to drop the temperature. Your body is surrounded by cold air, with temperatures dropping as low as -200 degrees Fahrenheit. A cryotherapy technician will be there to talk you through the entire experience.

Although this is a drastic temperature change, it is a dry cold, and your head and airways remain outside of the chamber at all times. Your core body temperature remains the same while only your skin gets cold. Some patients do experience a slight drop in body temperature in the few minutes immediately following the treatment, but their internal temperature quickly rises back to normal.

Athletes find cryotherapy valuable post training because it encourages an accelerated healing process by slowing the metabolism of cells. It also gives a boosted feeling of overall wellbeing. These benefits allow athletes to train harder and more often to gain a competitive edge.

Using cryotherapy before a training or exercising session also has been shown to decrease inflammation. In addition to effectively reducing pain and inflammation, cryotherapy is also known to boost the immune system, improving overall health and stamina.

When your body is exposed to cold temperatures, it releases endorphins, which are your body’s natural painkillers. Exposure to low temperatures also reduces the metabolism of cells, which gives them more time to heal and recover from strain or injury. Other benefits of cryotherapy also include relief from chronic pain, weight loss management, and increased active performance.
